J-ENG brings Tier III technologies to market- The first commercial LP-SCR system successfully completed -

The first 6UEC33LSE-C2-SCR

Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has delivered the first commercial LP-SCR system for 6UEC33LSE-C2 engine, of which order was placed at J-ENG’s Chinese licensee, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (CSE).
Its shop test was successfully conducted at CSE’s factory from March 19 to 21, 2018, and it will be installed in 600TEU container vessel built by Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

Since 2010, J-ENG has been developing the world’s first LP-SCR system, and also conducted full-scale onboard test on marine 2-stroke diesel engine.

In the case of adopting LP-SCR system to low speed main engine, increase of exhaust gas temperature might be issue to be considered.
As a solution for the above, J-ENG’s LP-SCR system couples with EGB valve incorporated MET turbocharger to automatically control exhaust gas temperature when the SCR is operated, which achieves systems of user-friendly and high performance.

Further, LP-SCR can be flexibly arranged in vessel, which makes relatively easy to be installed in a small-size vessel with limited space for SCR system.

J-ENG has obtained a General Design Appraisal (GDA) for fundamental design from the Lloyd’s Resister and verified its planned performances at the shop test.

As an alternative solution to the IMO’s NOx Tier III regulations, J-ENG is now optimizing commercial LP-EGR system of which final inspection at the first Dock-in of the vessel was successfully completed in January 2018, after its world’s first onboard LP-EGR long-term test since August 2015.

Following this completion of LP-SCR shop test and LP-EGR onboard durability test, J-ENG has established technologies of both LP-SCR and LP-EGR.

Expanding variation of solution business for IMO NOx Tier III responding to customer’s needs, J-ENG will continue to pursue further development and sales of the best environmental technologies as a licensor of “Japan’s world class marine diesel engines”.
